Unrelenting Love

Lent 2017 : Day 24

Today in the internet world, there are a lot of user-generated content about people or stories that inspire people. Hashtags such as #relationshipgoals and #fitspiration. The story of Mary is truly very inspiring, one that is truly a “faithspiration”.

To have a faith as bold as hers is the ultimate goal and her unconditional trust in God is something that all of us should aspire to. The story of annunciation gives us a perspective of how God turns fear into faith and doubt into trust. Seeing Angel Gabriel would have probably scared Mary; hearing Angel Gabriel say that she will conceive & bear a son must have terrified her but Mary’s reply wasn’t a “NO” or “WHY”. Instead, she asked “How will this be?”

In those words Mary teaches us the will to trust in God’s ways. We may not see it now given our current situation but God will surely make a way. The Lord really moves in mysterious ways and only ample trust will allow us to completely surrender all the uncertainties and anxieties and hold on to the promise of God’s love which is always certain and re-assuring.

In circumstances where we are faced with a lot of questions, how many times did we ask “Why”? In times when we feel God is asking us to do something in service of Him through other people, how many times did we say “No”? When faced with uncertainties, how many times have we doubted God’s plans for us? Is our faith as strong as Mary’s that we can honestly say “May it be done to me according to Your will?”.

Heavenly Father,
Teach me to have an unconditional faith and complete trust in You just like Mary.
Allow be to do everything, according to your will.
