There’s only a couple of days to go and many Christians, including myself, are appraising their Lenten observance so far. The season of Lent calls us all to conversion, and to live lives like the merciful Father - who is love. We are also called to pray, fast and abstain from vices. In the words of Saint Paul, if we perform all our good deeds during this season of Lent and at other times in our lives, and do them without love, then we do them in vain.
Let us take this time of Lent to start living Godly lives by doing things with love. It is a decision that we have to make daily. And as Saint Paul states in his letter to the Corinthians, all we need as good Christians is “love” (Corinthians 12: 31, 13).
“Love is a decision to be patient; love is a decision to be kind. Love is a decision not to be jealous; a decision not to be pompous; a decision not to be inflated; a decision not to be rude; love does not seek its own interests. Love is a decision not to be quick-tempered; a decision not to brood over injury. Love is a decision not to rejoice over wrong doing but to rejoice with the truth. Love a decision to bear all things, believe all things, hope in all things, and endure all things”.
It does not matter how much or little we have been able to achieve during this season of Lent. What is most important is that we put in effort to make the best of what is left of the season. Let us all strive to live out the remaining part of Lent, and the rest of our lives in LOVE.
