Unrelenting Love

Lent 2017 : Day 38

Reflection Posted : 2017-04-08 by : Terence

Gospel of John (14:15-17)
" If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. "

Before entering into His passion, Jesus promised not to leave us alone by sending us His Spirit.  And He did.  The presence of the Spirit in us is real. It is not something intelligence can comprehend but our hearts know it, as long as we have faith and reverential love for the Father.

When I am feeling down and troubled, I stop; I quiet down; I come to an humble stillness in body and a full attention to the present moment in mind.  I make myself available and open to the depth of my being, where the Spirit of God resides.  The Spirit that is the source and energy of all lives and creation; the love that heals and the knowledge that leads.  Christ has never left us.

Holy and eternal God,
Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit,
For never abandoning me,
For always accepting my contrite heart.
As my Lenten journey nears it’s end,
Let my heart be open to receiving Your truth, Your word,
Cleanse me of all my sins so that I may enter into the Passion of Easter ready to hear our shepherds voice.
Amen
